Pittsburgh Steelers veteran left guard Ramon Foster won’t need surgery after suffering a right leg injury in practice on Saturday, but is expected to miss 4 to 5 weeks, according to multiple reports Sunday.
Saturday, the Steelers left guard went down in pain after getting caught in the pile during a running play, and appeared to be holding his right knee/leg as he lay on the ground (This according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler). Foster had to be carted off the field following the injury.NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reported Sunday that left guard Ramon Foster will avoid surgery on the hyperextended knee he suffered in Saturday's practice. The 32-year-old endured no ligament damage, per Kinkhabwala, but should miss four to five weeks in recovery.
Foster, 32, has 115 career starts and is in the final season of a three-year, $9.6 million contract. He has expressed interest in re-signing with the team. Coach Mike Tomlin called Foster, the team's National Football League Players Association rep, a core member of the Steelers who has been "doing this a long time."

Though the Steelers' offensive line will miss Foster should he miss any significant time, it is likely that one of the league's best O-Lines will continue to play at a high level. Prior to today, Foster had proven to be very durable in his Football career, as he has played in 116 Football games throughout his career with 101 starts.
A Steelers veteran since 2009, Foster is currently entering the last day of his contract, and publicly stated Friday that he is seeking a contract extension.
